The snake defends itself by attacking. The Exalt invokes this Charm when hit by an attack but before damage is applied. This Charm gives the Exalt an unarmed Martial Arts counterattack. The dice pool for this counterattack equals the Exalt's Martial Arts score plus the number of extra successes rolled on the opponent's attack. (The original attacker's damage is still inflicted as normal.) Note the rules for counterattacks.
